Complete requirements for membership can be found under the sections titled “Requirements and Guidelines” and “Types of Membership”; but basically, applications for membership require two (2) Sponsors who are presently members in good standing of BFCA and who have themselves been members for at least one (1) year. These Sponsors, who are unrelated, must have known the applicant for at least two (2) years and you must contact these people to determine that they will sponsor your application. We strongly encourage you to make every effort to find at least one Sponsor from your general area that would be familiar with your dogs and your facilities. Once this has been done and you have determined that you are ready to apply for membership, please return the application request form also found here, along with the nonrefundable application fee to the Membership Administrator and an application will be sent to you.

The Membership Administrator will contact your Sponsors for their comments immediately upon receipt of your completed application. We also require that your name, along with the names of your Sponsors, be printed in the BULLETIN (our official newsletter), prior to your acceptance, for the benefit of the entire membership. As you can see, there are a number of steps which must be followed, so please allow approximately 90 days after returning your application for processing to be completed. You should be aware that your sponsor is required to reply within 30 days after receiving material from the Membership Administrator and failure on the part of the sponsor to reply can delay your acceptance.

In the event you are in the position of not being acquainted with any of our members, we hope that you will contact our Corresponding Secretary who will assist you in locating any local clubs in your area or any members who may be of assistance to you. You will find her name and address listed on our list of Officers and Directors.

We would like to thank you for your interest in the Bichon and hope that you will join us in efforts to protect and advance the welfare of the Bichon Frise as stated in our “Objects and Goals” section also on this website.
